Docbiz

This is a two-day course taught over two weeks, structured specifically for the documentary/factual world.  It is highly interactive, including formal teaching and practical group and individual exercises.  It aims to increase your awareness of market requirements and how to present yourself most effectively to the market to make progress creatively and financially.

You will also develop a realistic view of what you have to offer and thus enhance your professional effectiveness and confidence, including such important tools as CV writing, interview techniques and career planning and development. You will also look at the basic legal and financial requirements, relevant organisations, contracts & agreements, with the precious help of a media accountant.

Aims:

    * To give participants a theoretical and practical introduction to the full range of skills required to operate successfully as a freelance/microbusiness in the UK documentary/ factual industry.  These skills are contextualised for relevance to both the individual and the small company.

    * To increase participants' awareness of market requirements and how they can most effectively present themselves and their products/ services to the market.

    * To enable participants to develop a realistic view of what they have to offer and enhance their professional effectiveness and confidence.

    * Standard contracts and agreements
