10x10 – Get Feedback On Your Doc-In-Progress At This Free Workshop

Next 10x10 – 8th November 2008, 5.45 pm
Where - As part of the Sheffield Doc/Fest!

Sign up for the next meeting of 10x10! A new workshop hosted by the Documentary Filmmakers Group (DFG) in partnership with Doculink – the U.S./Canada based documentary-makers group and listserve.

For the next 10x10 we're headed north. To the Sheffield Doc/Fest in fact, where we're on a mission to join the two worlds of UK documentary: the industry elite and the lovely people who form the independent documentary scene - you.

Whether you want to come screen or just be one of the viewers at the event, it’s a great opportunity to gain support, get crucial feedback, meet your peers and also to be a part of the independent doc community. It’s also a rare chance to see what others are working on and gain a hands-on perspective of what works, what doesn’t and why.

The catch (because there always is one) is that you MUST be a signed-up delegate of the festival to attend and/or show your work. The plus side is that - as well as taking part in the UK's hottest doc event - we can all head to the sponsored party du jour to continue the conversation, instead of the nearest pub.

Projects will be selected within the same criteria as always. If you wish to screen please send an email with ‘Screener’ in the subject line to 10x10@dfgdocs.com by Monday 20th October, answering the three questions below:
  1. In no more than one short paragraph, describe your project.
  2. What do you want to show? (Ie, a trailer/key scene/whole short film/sequence/raw footage etc…)
  3. What do you hope to gain from showing your project at this stage?
If you submit, we'll let you know if you've got a slot shortly after the 22nd.

To come along as a viewer, it’s super-important that you RSVP. We have a limited number of seats and will have to be strict about numbers. If your name’s not on the list, you won’t be coming in! So if you want to come as a viewer, send an email to 10x10@dfgdocs.com with the word 'Viewer' in the subject line.

We look forward to seeing you there for the same fun, different venue.

The 10x10 format was created by Doculink, and has been running since 2005 in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Vancouver, BC. It’s the first time it’s running here in the UK. If it’s going to work then we need YOU, the London doc community to get involved!

I'll Show You Mine If You Show Me Yours

DFG's regular screening events provide a place where members can meet up with each other, and us, to chat and relax, and watch documentaries made by YOU. It will also be a place where new productions from DFG Films and other friends of DFG can be seen.

The purpose of the screenings is to provide an environment for feedback and discussion and a regular physical home for the wider community of DFG members.

DFG will provide the venue and marketing to your fellow members and the wider world via emails and listings on our website and others.

Screenings happen at the FleaPit, on the East End's famous Columbia Road, and places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. If your film is screening you will be given a few extra places to allocate as you wish, allowing you to bring anyone you like, from your mum to Nick Fraser.

To arrange a screening of your documentary simply send the following items with a copy of the film:
