FAQ
This section will guide you through the maze of film festivals, how to submit your film and how to make the most of the festival once you're there.
Whether you have made a documentary for broadcast or have made it independently, you need to attract as much interest as possible for your film. You need to maximize the exposure of the film, attract awards, maybe a prize or two, and hopefully the interest of commissioning editors and distributors around the world. In addition, by attending festivals you get a rare opportunity to network and meet a whole host of people, and often (thought not always) you get an all-expenses-paid trip to different places across the globe. You also get to show your work to an interested audience and talk about your film.
But where do you begin? There are literally hundreds, if not thousands of festivals around the world, and to navigate the choices between where to enter your film is no easy matter. You have to plan carefully, and also make sure that you don't spend half your salary entering your film into small festivals that might not really help you.
